The 2 Rivers Art Project Committee, Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts and The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association invite you to submit artwork to be considered for our 2015/2016, year-long, public exhibit: 2 Rivers Art Project (2RAP) in Glenwood Springs. We’re looking for high-quality sculpture for this display. We’ve been able to purchase nins pieces and donate them to the city as permanent installations. The city has also given public art a line item in the budget to purchase public art.
We are also sending out a call for muralists. This new dimension to the program calls for artists to paint the electrical boxes, bridges, and barriers throughout the city. This part of the public art program will be paid commissions. We are asking to see the scope of your work in order to make decisions.
This is our ninth year presenting public art in the community. The exhibit is open to professional and amateur artists of all backgrounds. There are no limitations on the dimensions of submitted pieces. A selection committee will review all entries and choose pieces based on the originality of the piece, its durability and suitability for outdoors and safety for the public. Artists, upon acceptance into the year long display, must be able to deliver their works by May 21/22, 2015 to the designated installation site.
The pieces chosen for the exhibit will be available for sale. Any pieces that are not purchased are to be returned to the artist’s possession.
Chosen Artists receive a $500 stipend. We have a special detail from the city who will help with the installation.
In the event that a piece is purchased during the exhibit year, the purchaser will be asked to leave it in the exhibit until the next sculpture change. In the rare instance that the purchaser must take the piece before the sculpture change, the artist is offered the opportunity to install a new piece.
If selected, you will be notified by April 22, 2015 and asked to provide us with a high quality electronic image for marketing. To apply, detach and return the completed application and signed agreement by April 10, 2015.
