It all started in January with Nile in Denial, local author Jessica Meath’s charming tale about a caterpillar who did not like one single thing about change and then embraced the biggest change of all – becoming a butterfly. Reading that story to a group of elementary students and then, with the power of their imaginations, watching them paint the butterflies they saw with their mind’s eye confirmed that our newest collaboration with the Glenwood Springs Library is a winner.
Our next Painting Pages at Tuesday at Your Library is February 10th at 4:00 where we will introduce Paul Meets Bernadette, Rosy Lamb’s artful tale about a goldfish who only sees the world one way until a charismatic companion, Bernadette, arrives and shows him there is more to life than swimming in circles.
Joining this magical program and the staff of the Art Center is Josefina Gordh, a superbly talented studio artist, potter and textile artist who has taught children and adults from Sweden to the United States. As Josefina would say “Watashi ga oshieru koto ga daisuki desu. Jáime enseigner. Jag älskar att undervisa. I love teaching!”
Born in Stockholm, Josefina attended the Nyckelviks College of Art and apprenticed with master ceramic artists in Japan and Korea. She has been an artist, ceramics teacher, art therapist, lecturer on corporate creativity, special project designer at the Cannes Film Festival and interior designer and consultant. We are delighted that Josefina has returned to Colorado where she exhibits her work throughout the valley and will be conducting workshops and Spring Break art intensives at the Center. Call us for details.
Bring K – 5th grade children to this free, after-school program at the Glenwood Springs Library, Tuesday, February 10th from 4:00 – 5:00 and meet Paul, Bernadette and Josefina!

Summer of Music
“When we run out of words, the music begins” and takes us, for a while, to that sublime place where we come together and let ourselves be swept up in the sights and sounds of outstanding musical artists.
The Glenwood Springs Summer of Music has been bringing the best of Jazz, R&B and Rock to the area and keeping the tradition of free concerts in the park alive.
Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better than Season Four, we are finalizing our lineup for Season Five and it is outstanding. Now’s the time to take advantage of our new Individual and Corporate Sponsorship perks by pledging your support to one of the finest community events in the area. Call me to discuss the wide range of benefits you or your company can enjoy.
A geologist friend of mine knows all there is to know about the other kind of rock and can hold court on geological eras, the mineral content of the planets and
plate tectonics. But every once in a while, he will put that aside and say, “You know, Christina, rocks have the ability to retain negative and positive energy in many forms. Just the other night, the sky was black velvet and there was absolute silence and I swear I heard Rick Vito and Calixto’s sound still bouncing around the canyon.”
Here’s to the power of the music and Season Five.
