To get a better understanding of our dance classes and their content, please read the schedule. Feel free to call if you need help determining which class your child should attend. All Intermediate and Advanced classes are “instructor approval classes” – please call if you are new to the Art Center, and we can help determine your level.
Two shows a year complement our amazing dance program. We look forward to our productions “Winterpalooza” and Dancers Dancing.
Most importantly, we want our dancers to have fun, enjoy the process of learning and still have a life outside of dance.
The Art Center Dance Companies
Our dance companies provide an opportunity for dancers to train and learn how to create and perform advanced choreography in all dance styles on a more professional level. The program includes Advanced and Junior Dance Company Divisions.
The Art Center Competitive Dance Companies
This program is for Dance Company Members who strive to be professional dancers, or who enjoy the Competitive Dance experience. We travel to two or more competitions and conventions yearly and currently boast the most successful local competitive program!

These classes are for children who love to move. Dancers are introduced to classical ballet terminology and movement. Instructors strive to combine skill development and self-expression. Dancers learn body awareness, balance and coordination. They gain strength, flexibility, stamina and agility. Your child will be soaring through space!
Students learn classical ballet terminology, correct anatomical alignment, barre exercises and center work. Students gain poise, strength, flexibility and discipline. They learn body awareness, articulation and control. Dancers experience the grace and beauty of Classical Ballet Technique, while developing skills and techniques of their own. Dancers train to classical music.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Contemporary dance stresses versatility and improvisation, unlike the strict, structured nature of ballet. Contemporary dancers focus on floorwork, using gravity to pull them down to the floor.
Tap & Jazz
Students create rhythms by tapping, flapping and shuffling. They learn to count beats and hear rhythms and melodies. Sounds help dancers to recognize the relationship between sound and movement. Tapping is a blast and a great way to learn how to dance! Dancers incorporate flexibility, turns and big jumps and emphasize sharp movement to upbeat music. Exciting choreography and a great workout!
Modern dancers experience the thrill of traveling through space with various dynamics and intentions. They work on skill development and self-expression. Students gain agility, control, flexibility and stamina.
Dancers work with strength and stamina to bust a move. Some breaking – lots of fun! All skill levels welcome.
